Tian Qin, soprano, brings a wealth of experiences to her performances in various music styles.Ms. Qin has performed classical and contemporary repertoires in concerts and festivals in Asia, Europe, and North America.
Her Opera credits include as Cio-Cio San in Puccini's Opera "Madama Butterfly" with Theatro Sociale di Stradella in Italy with Maestro Giuseppe Vaccaro. Tian was thrilled to perform this role again, and her debut of this role was in 2018 with Mediterranean Opera Festival in Italy, conducted by Maestro Leonardo Catalanotto. She was performed title role, Mimi, from Puccini's opera "La Boheme" in Italy with Maestro Kamal Kahn with the same company. In 2015, she appeared as the title role Susanna in "Le Nozze di Figaro" with Connecticut Lyric Opera in the US. Earlier the same year, she performed as Contessa in "Le Nozze di Figaro" at Greve Festival, Italy. In New York, she was seen as First Lady Die Zauberflöte with New York Lyric Opera in and Pamina in "Die Zauberflöte" at Peter Jay Sharp Theater.
Tian was born in China; at her young age, she began studying piano with her mother. After winning the prestigious singing competition "The Sixth Chinese Music Golden Bell Award" in China while still in college, she started her singing career in popular music and musical theater. Later Tian appeared in the "2008 Beijing Olympic Games Series Performances: International Star Concert". While working as a professional pop and musical theater singer Tian realized her real passion: Opera. After receiving her bachelor's degree in Journalism and advertisement from the Huazhong University of Science and Technology, she started to get classical singing training with her father, Dan Qin.
Tian went to France and later the US to keep pursuing singing study. She received both a Master's Degree and a graduate performance diploma in Vocal Performance from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee, Boston, US. She studied with Tibère Raffalli, Sara Goldstein, Katheryn Wright, and Gioacchino Gli Vigni; and had masterclasses with Renata Scotto and Nelly Miricioiu.
Besides being a musician, Tian has been actively participating in and holding events to connect the Eastern and Western world through music. The most memorable events she was involved in are the off-Broadway musical "I love you, you're perfect now change," Tian was the producer and brought the show to Xi'an China in 2014. Later, she produced and directed "sing for peace" series concerts in Boston. She was the vocal coach for the "voice of China," the Great Boston region of overseas selection in 2016.
Tian is currently relocated to Europe and based in the Netherlands.
